Edubozza ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of all users — learners, teachers and schools — across Africa and beyond.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have over your information.

Our commitment: We will never sell your personal data to third parties. We collect only what is necessary to deliver our service.

        We will never use your learning data for advertising purposes or share it with advertisers.
      

🤝 4. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

AI providers: Content submitted to our AI Tutor is processed by OpenAI and Anthropic to generate responses. These providers have their own privacy policies and do not use your data to train their models by default.
Payment processors: Billing data is shared with our payment provider to process transactions securely.
School administrators: If you are a learner or teacher under a school plan, your progress data is visible to your school's administrator.
Legal obligations: We may disclose data if required by law, court order or to protect the safety of our users.
Business transfers: If Edubozza is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer to the new entity with the same privacy protections.

👶 5. Children's Privacy

Edubozza is an educational platform designed for learners of all ages, including children. We take children's privacy seriously.

Learners under 13 may only use Edubozza under the direct supervision of a parent or through a school account managed by a verified school administrator.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental or school consent.
School administrators confirm, by accepting these terms, that they have obtained appropriate consent for underage learners on their platform.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data without consent, please contact us immediately at info@edubozza.org.

For schools: When you register learners under a school account, you take responsibility for ensuring parental consent has been obtained as required by your country's laws.

🤖 6. AI Features & Third-Party Services

Our AI Tutor and quiz generation features use the following third-party AI providers:

OpenAI — used for quiz question generation and tutoring responses (OpenAI Privacy Policy)
Anthropic Claude — used as a secondary AI provider (Anthropic Privacy Policy)

When you use our AI Tutor, the content you submit (text, images, voice transcriptions) is sent to these providers solely to generate a response. We do not use your tutoring conversations to train AI models.

        Important: Do not submit sensitive personal information (ID numbers, financial details, medical records) through the AI Tutor.
      

🔐 7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including:

All passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt encryption — we never store plain-text passwords
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encrypted connections
Access to production databases is restricted to authorised personnel only
We conduct regular reviews of our security practices

📅 10. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.

Active accounts: Data is kept for the lifetime of the account
Deleted accounts: Data is purged within 90 days of account deletion
Learning records: Quiz scores and progress data may be retained in anonymised form for platform improvement
Legal obligations: Billing records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by tax laws

🏫 11. Schools & Data Processing

When Edubozza processes data on behalf of a school (learner records, progress, etc.), the school acts as the data controller and Edubozza acts as the data processor.

Schools are responsible for:

Ensuring they have a lawful basis to share learner data with Edubozza
Informing learners and parents about the use of Edubozza as part of their school data processing
Complying with applicable data protection laws in their jurisdiction
